Downtown Montgomery is the place to be all day on Saturday, April 20, 2013!
The Joy to Life Foundation's Walk of Life through historic downtown will kick off at 8:30 a.m. to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer in Alabama. Click here for information about the Walk of Life.
You can participate in the Walk of Life and then head to Old Alabama Town for the seventh annual Alabama Book Festival, where you can listen to authors talk about their books, get books signed, and browse through the vendor and exhibitor area, and eat great food provided by local restaurants and caterers. It's a family-friendly event, and children's activities will going on from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Student Readers Group author Solomon Seay Jr. will talk about his book, Jim Crow and Me, at 9 a.m.)
To round off the evening, head back to historic Dexter Ave. for the Montgomery Street Fair and help celebrate the unique character of downtown Montgomery with local vendors, artists, musicians, and other performers.
